J. Ann Palomar, LMT/CST

While I received my massage license in 1989, my focus for the past 16+ years has been in CranioSacral Therapy, a gentle yet surprisingly deep, non-invasive therapy. I have used this specialization to treat a variety of individuals; adults, children, babies and even pets. CranioSacral Therapy promotes relief for a wide range of concerns, including migraines, TMJ dysfunction, acute and/or chronic pain and injuries. Read more about CranioSacral Therapy.

In the late 70’s when running, aerobics and fitness clubs became the craze, I jumped right on board developing a dance exercise program that I taught out of my garage in Southgate, Michigan.

Health Food stores were beginning to pop up everywhere. At the same time I was being introduced to things like chiropractic, acupuncture and massage. The way I was taught to look at health care was being challenged. Going to the doctor only when something was “wrong” to have them “fix” it didn’t seem to make sense anymore. For me this was the beginning of taking an active role in my own health, the beginning of taking responsibility for my own wellbeing, not just physically but mentally, emotionally and spiritually as well.

After moving to Florida in 1981 I continued to teach exercise classes and in 1989 became licensed as a massage therapist. Having had a private massage practice since that time, I’ve always worked independently sharing office space with other independent therapist.

In 1995, I became interested in CranioSacral Therapy (CST) after a car accident. It was the only modality where I received lasting relief. Immediately I started incorporating CranioSacral techniques in my massage practice.

Since then I have taken thirteen CST classes, assisted sixteen classes and co-taught four CST I classes. I am CST techniques certified, teaching assistant certified and presenter certified (teaching over 20 Introduction classes). In the fall of 2008 I had the pleasure of working with Dr. John Upledger, founder of CranioSacral Therapy, and received visiting therapist status for the Upledger Institute's Intensive Program. In August of 2012 I had the special opportunity to participate in the CST Dolphin Assisted Therapy Program which was indeed an incredible experience.
